It’s no exaggeration to say that cleaning our home is the bane of most of our lives, but some people love it so much they decide to dedicate their entire career to it.

From Mrs Hinch to Natalie Birtwhistle, this new brand of influencer has taken over our social media feeds.

And it’s starting to take over our TV screens too – as the BBC launched brand new cleaning show Sort Your Life Out earlier this month (November 4).

The programme sees former X Factor star Stacey Solomon and her team help families to declutter, upcycle and transform their homes.

But how did Stacey Solomon go from budding singer to cleaning sensation?

KentLive takes a look back at Stacey Solomon’s journey from teen mum X Factor contestant to domestic bliss with EastEnders star partner Joe Swash.

When did Stacey audition for the X Factor?

Stacey was born in Dagenham in 1989, the daughter of Fiona and David Solomon.

Her mother was born into an Anglican family and was the daughter of a vicar, but converted to Judaism before marrying Solomon’s father, who is of Iraqi-Jewish and Polish-Jewish descent.

Talking about her Jewish background, Stacey previously said: “Growing up, the influence Judaism had on me was an overwhelming understanding to love those around you, care for others as if they are part of your family and strive to be the best individual you can be.”

The star’s parents divorced when she was nine-years-old.

Stacey initially attended a Christian primary school, but later studied at the Jewish Kantor King Solomon High School in Barkingside.

Prior to pursuing a career in music, Stacey worked at a Fish and Chip shop called Oh My Cod!.

After realizing her dreams she studied musical theatre at college and worked as a barmaid at a country club to make ends meet.

Her life hasn’t always been the domestic bliss we see portrayed on social media now however.

In 2008, at 18-years-old, she became a single mum after having a child with ex-boyfriend Dean Cox.

Determined to give her son a better life, Stacey entered the X Factor in 2009.

Rise to fame

Stacey auditioned for the sixth series of The X Factor, performing “What a Wonderful World”.

Her bubbly personality was a hit with both the British public and the judges of the show, and she soon advanced to the live shows.

The star was mentored by Dannii Minogue throughout her journey on the show.

Stacey made it to the semi-finals of the series, coming in at third place behind Joe McElderry and Olly Murs.

Shortly after the competition she went on tour with her fellow X Factor finalists and in 2010 she returned to the show, where she presented the show from Essex for winner, Matt Cardle.

Stacey continued to pursue a career in music for the next seven years – covering Chris Rea’s “Driving Home for Christmas” for the 2011 Iceland advert, releasing her debut album in 2012, headlining various Christmas events, leading a choir of 110,000 primary school children on the Young Voices tour, and releasing her second album “Shy” and hit single “My Big Mistake” in 2015 and 2016 respectively.

By 2017 Stacey was taking on more presenting roles.

She returned to the fourteenth series of The X Factor, co-presenting alongside fellow star George Shelley – a position which she retained the following year.

During her music career, the Essex born star took part in reality TV show I’m a Celebrity – being crowned Queen of the Jungle in the tenth series – heightening her popularity further.

And in 2011 she became the face of supermarket Iceland, taking over from Coleen Nolan.

The star has expressed plans to collaborate with Mrs Hinch on a range of cleaning products in the future.

Is Stacey Solomon married?

Stacey had a difficult start in life, becoming a single mum not once, but twice, after having a second child with ex-fiancé Aaron Barnham in 2012.

However she did eventually find domestic bliss after she began dating television personality Joe Swash in 2015, having met during the tenth series of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! in 2010.

The couple have one son together, born in 2019, and last month Stacey announced that she had given birth to a baby daughter on her 32nd birthday.

She is also the stepmother of Swash’s son from a previous relationship.

The couple are not married, but Stacey announced their engagement on Christmas Eve last year.

The pair are open about their family on social media – regularly sharing pictures on social media of their sweet home life in and young family in their new Tudor-style mansion ‘Pickle Cottage’ in Essex.

Stacey and Joe are currently dedicating much of their time to renovating the property, which has 2.5 acres of land – sharing the progress with their followers on Instagram.

Stacey has also been honest with her fans about dealing with anxiety.
