ITV For the Love of Dogs: Paul O’Grady falls head over heels for stray dachshund

Paul O’Grady will be back on our television screens tonight (February 23) with his hit ITV show.

The latest episode of For the Love of Dogs will air at 8pm and will see Paul meet an over-excitable bulldog called Bruce with breathing issues.

He also steps in to help a nervous stray saluki called Bambi socialise, and ends up falling head over heels for a stray dachshund named Sausage.

As we know, Paul can find it hard to resist taking these animals home with him – so will he fight the urge this time?

Tonight’s episode airs just weeks after Paul visited the Battersea Dogs and Cats Home in Brands Hatch on February 2.

He even met royalty as he showed The Duchess of Cornwall around the centre, with the pair getting up close to a variety of animals.

Paul has been a part of the charity’s fabric since 2012- in fact his hit ITV series For the Love of Dogs centres around Battersea’s south London Branch.

In a recent Instagram post, Paul shared some kind words regarding his meeting with The Duchess.

The post reads: “George is an 11 year old Westie, he’s a bit worried when it comes to food but diced chicken always does the job.

“Luckily Battersea’s Patron, HRH The Duchess of Cornwall was on hand to help out. A lovely lady who’s passionate about dogs.

“There was a competition to see who’s dog would run straight to their owner ignoring the food, squeaky toys etc put in their way.

“The Duchess’s dog ran straight to her, ignoring the temptation put in her way whilst Sausage headed straight for the press and photographers not a bit interested in the competition.

“She was obviously more interested in raising her profile and posing for the paps. A great day and the episode will be out later this year.”
