Kent’s Shop with a Cop helps 38 children buy Christmas gifts

Thirty-eight children were able to buy Christmas gifts for themselves and others during the eighth annual Shop with a Cop presented by the Kent Police Department and Target.

Officers, police explorers, volunteers and Mayor Dana Ralph gathered in the early morning hours on Dec. 4 at Target on the East Hill to take the children shopping and let them pick out gifts. Each year the police department partners with Kent Youth and Family Services to select children for the shopping trip. Officers donate their time.

“We love this event,” according to a Kent Police statement. “Having an opportunity to spend a half hour to make a Kent child’s Christmas more joyful…..is a privilege.”
