Part of the A249 has been closed following a multi-vehicle crash this morning (June 7). The road is closed in the northbound direction, and traffic is queuing as a result of the incident.
According to traffic monitoring site Inrix, a lorry and two cars were involved between the A2 Keycol Hill (Key Street Roundabout, Bobbing) and the B2005 Grovehurst Road (Iwade/Kemsley turn-off). This is affecting traffic between Maidstone and Sheerness.
The incident was first noted by the site at 8.32am. Inrix said: “A249 northbound closed, queuing traffic due to accident, a lorry and two cars involved between A2 Keycol Hill (Key Street Roundabout, Bobbing) and B2005 Grovehurst Road (Iwade / Kemsley Turn Off, Kemsley).”

In a tweet, National Highways said: “The #A249 is closed northbound between the #A2 (#Bobbing) and #B2005 (#Kemsley) due to a multi vehicle collision. Emergency services including @kent_police are on scene. Delays are beginning to build on approach. More details to follow.”
