A section of the M2 in Kent is currently shut. According to National Highways, a “serious multi-vehicle collision” has happened.

The closure is eastbound between junction 3, for Maidstone, and junction 4, for Gillingham. A National Highways spokesperson said shortly before 7.30pm that traffic had also been stopped on the westbound carriageway to allow an air ambulance to attend.

At this stage, there is no word on any injuries. National Highways said more information will follow.
