
The M2 eastbound at junction 3 – near Rochester Airport – is closed while accident investigation work is carried out following an earlier crash involving an overturned vehicle.
A diversion has been put in place – via the exit and entry slip roads.
The closure has been in place since around 10pm following the single-vehicle collision.
Highways England says the event is expected to clear and normal traffic conditions are likely to resume between 7.30am and 7.45am.
A tweet by National Highways: South-East at 10.54pm on Tuesday said: “The #M2 has been closed eastbound (coast bound) near #Chatham following a single vehicle collision.
“Traffic is being diverted via the exit and entry slip roads at J3. The road is likely to remain closed through the night for @KentPoliceRoads to investigate the scene.”
An update from traffic monitoring service Inrix at 5.07am said: “M2 coastbound closed due to accident investigation work at J3 (Chatham / Rochester).
“After a car overturned last night. Diversion – via the exit and entry slip roads.”
