Pete Davidson won’t be flying to space with Kent’s Blue Origin

Saturday Night Live star Pete Davidson won’t be flying to space with Kent-based Blue Origin due to a change in the flight schedule.

“Blue Origin’s 20th flight of New Shepard has shifted to Tuesday, March 29,” according to a March 17 Blue Origin email. “Pete Davidson is no longer able to join the NS-20 crew on this mission. We will announce the sixth crew member in the coming days.”

Blue Origin announced March 14 that Davidson would be part of the crew for a March 23 launch from the company’s West Texas site.

Blue Origin postponed the flight in order to run additional preflight tests on a subsystem, said a company spokesperson March 18 in a phone interview. Davidson cannot make the new date because of a scheduling conflict.

This will be the fourth human flight for the New Shepard program and the 20th in its history, according to Blue Origin. The flight goes up about 62 miles and takes about 10 minutes.
