Ofsted inspectors took to secondary schools across the county over 2021 with many being deemed as a ‘good’ or ‘outstanding’ standard.
The Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills (Ofsted) inspects services providing education and skills for learners of all ages, and regulates services for children and young people. Every week they travel across the country to make sure education, training and care services are operating at a high standard.
Each school receives a report based on their performance following the inspection, with some recommendations also made on how the school could improve in the future. The grading system assesses the effectiveness of leadership and management, the quality of teaching, personal development and the outcomes for pupils.

Schools are graded on a four-point scale – grade 1 (outstanding), grade 2 (good), grade 3 (requires improvement), grade 4 (inadequate). An ‘outstanding’ school is one which provides the highest quality education and care for its students.
