Saturday Night Live star Pete Davidson will be the latest celebrity to fly into space on a rocket with Kent-based Blue Origin.
Blue Origin on Monday, March 14 announced the crew for its upcoming flight on March 23 from its West Texas launch site.
Davidson will fly as a guest of Blue Origin founder Jeff Bezos, also the founder of Amazon.
This will be the fourth human flight for the New Shepard program and the 20th in its history, according to Blue Origin. The flight goes up about 62 miles and takes about 10 minutes.
The other five members of the flight crew paid Blue Origin for the flight. The company doesn’t disclose how much people pay for a seat.
That group includes Marty Allen, former CEO of Party America, a nationwide retailer; Sharon Hagle, who founded SpaceKids Global, a nonprofit whose mission is to inspire students to excel in the space industry; Marc Hagle, president and CEO of Tricor International, a residential and commercial property development corporation and the husband of Sharon Hagle; Jim Kitchen, a faculty member of University of North Carolina’s Kenan-Flagler Business School; and George Nield, president of Commercial Space Technologies, LLC.
According to Blue Origin, this mission furthers the company’s vision of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth.
Previous flights included Bezos and his brother, “Star Trek” star William Shatner and “Good Morning America” co-anchor and former NFL star Michael Strahan.
Blue Origin opened in Kent in 2020 and expanded its facility in 2o20.
