Live M20 traffic updates as motorway blocked near Ashford after lorry sheds load – recap

There were long delays on the M20 on Sunday night (December 12) after a lorry shed its load.

Police stopped traffic at 6.45pm, leading to lengthy queues between Junctions 8 and 10 coastbound.

Traffic information service Inrix said it followed an earlier police incident along the same stretch.

It said: “M20 coastbound blocked, stationary traffic due to shed load between J8 A20 Ashford Road (Leeds Castle / Maidstone Services) and J9 A20 Fougeres Way (Ashford).

“Traffic has been stopped since the shed load happened before 18:45. The police incident between J9 and J10 has been cleared and traffic is back on the move on both sides, however traffic remains stopped here.”

National Highways advised drivers to allow extra time for their journeys.

All lanes reopened at just after 9pm, with residual delays for a short time.
