Dartford Crossing traffic: ‘Suspicious package’ on QEII bridge brings M25 to a standstill

Kent Police has confirmed that traffic was held on the M25 after reports of a ‘suspicious package’ at the Dartford Crossing.

Traffic was held before the QEII crossing for half an hour on Tuesday afternoon (October 19)

Queues soon built up with delays of nearly an hour stretching back in to Essex.

Police officers and patrols attended the scene and it has been confirmed that a bag has been seized.

Traffic was held around midday while Kent Police responded to the calls.

As a result of the blockage, National Highways advised drivers to allow for extra time.

A statement from Kent Police confirmed the package has been seized.

It said: “Traffic was held on the M25 whilst officers responded to calls of a suspicious package at 11.48am on Tuesday, 19 October 2021.

“A bag was located by patrols and has been seized.

“Traffic has been released.”
