E-scooter riders stopped by police conducting search after reported robbery

Two e-scooter riders have been reported for having no licences or insurance and their vehicles seized by police officers responding to a report of a robbery.

Traffic police in Kent tweeted at 12.03am today (Tuesday) that while conducting a search in connection with the raid in Ashford, two males riding scooters failed to stop when requested.

It said: “Officers at #ashford responded to a report of a robbery, while conducting an area search two males failed to stop for police riding two e-scooters. They were stopped a few streets away and the scooters seized and both reported for driving without a licence and no insurance.”

The force added: “The males stopped were not involved in the reported robbery. E-scooters are defined as a mechanically propelled vehicle therefore they require the same documentation as any other vehicle on the road.”
