Elderly woman cut free after car and lorry crash near Ashford

An elderly woman was cut free from her car by firefighters after it was involved in a crash with a lorry carrying a skip.

Emergency services were called to reports of a collision between the two vehicles in Kiln Lane, Bethserden, near Ashford at just before 4pm on Wednesday (November 3).

On arrival the crews found the driver of the car, a woman in her 70s, trapped by her injuries.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service said: “Firefighters worked closely with colleagues from the other emergency services.

“Crews removed the doors and roof of the vehicle to gain access to the driver where she was quickly assessed. She was carefully transferred into the care of air ambulance paramedics and doctors and taken to hospital.

“Crews made the scene safe.”

Three fire engines attended the incident along with Kent Police, South East Coast Ambulance Service and Kent Air Ambulance.
