Firefighters called to huge field blaze in Gravesend

Families in Gravesend were urged to keep their doors and windows closed this afternoon (Wednesday) after reports of a field fire. Four appliances were called to Westwood at around 2.30pm.

They remained at the scene for about three hours using jets, beaters, and breathing apparatus. They say no one was injured as a result of the blaze.

Drone pictures from the area shows as a large patch of grass remains charred. It comes after crews revealed they tackled more than 400 wild and grass fires last month.
