Kent firefighters extinguish house, apartment fires

Puget Sound Fire extinguished a house fire Thursday afternoon, Dec. 30 on Kent’s East Hill and put out an apartment fire on Wednesday, Dec. 29 that displaced 12 people.

Puget Sound Fire and the Renton Regional Fire Authority responded Thursday to a residential fire in the 10800 block of Southeast 218th Place, according to the Puget Sound Fire twitter account.

“The fire has been extinguished,” according to a Puget Sound Fire tweet at about 1:30 p.m.. “No injuries to the homeowner or firefighters. The cause of the fire is under investigation.”

On Dec. 29, firefighters responded at about 4:29 p.m. to the 23600 block of 108th Avenue SE and an apartment fire at The Groves Apartments, according to a Puget Sound Fire tweet.

Twelve people were displaced and four units were damaged, according to an email from Puget Sound Fire spokesman Pat Pawlak.

“The cause of the fire has been determined to be accidental,” according to the tweet. “The Red Cross are assisting the families displaced by the fire.”

Approximately 15 fire department units responded and it took about 35 minutes to extinguish the fire fire, Pawlak said.

There were no injuries.
