Live Dartford fire updates as ‘industrial units’ and trees go up in flames

Families have been urged to keep their doors and windows closed after a fire at an industrial site in Dartford. Firefighters were first called to the scene at around 3.20pm this afternoon (August 8).

Eight crews scrambled to the scene and remain there this evening. Smoke could be seen billowing into the skyline as crews battled a fire involving vegetation and industrial units.

Anyone near to the scene in Birchwood Road has been asked to keep their doors and windows shut due to the smoke. And the volunteer response team attended.

A Kent Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “Crews remain at the scene of a fire on Birchwood Road in Dartford. Crews are working to extinguish the flames, which have also spread to a number of industrial units. KFRS’ Volunteer Response Team has also been in attendance.

“Advice to keep windows and doors closed in the local area due to smoke is still currently in place. Please pass this message onto anyone who may not have access to the internet, thank you.”
