Live M2 traffic updates as police incident ‘on Medway Bridge’ closes motorway in Rochester

A police incident has brought the M2 to a standstill in Rochester this afternoon (June 14). Traffic has reportedly ground to a halt on Medway Bridge on the eastbound carriageway.

According to traffic management system Inrix, the road has been closed at Junction 2 for the A228 Sundridge Hill, Strood and Rochester. Inrix reported: “There is something going on on the bridge.”

Traffic cameras show drivers queuing on the motorway. The incident was first reported at around 3.10pm.

KCC Highways says: “All Coastbound traffic is being diverted off the M2 at J2 (A228 Strood) due to an incident between J2 and J3 (A229 Blue Bell Hill). Delays on the approach are building, please allow extra time for your journey.”
