Throughout this back to school season, local Office Depot stores in the Seattle-area have been raising funds for Neely-O’Brien Elementary School through their annual Start Proud program.
The program focuses on helping students and teachers start their year off successfully, and this year, Office Depot collected and gifted $14.424.92 for Neely-O’Brien Elementary School to spend on school supplies.
“The donations have been awesome, it’s been a huge help in getting students focused on academics. We’re very grateful.” – Megan Jakubowski, 6th grade teacher.
Previously, Office Depot donated more than 500 backpacks with brand new school supplies to Neely-O’Brien and gave an All-Star Teacher award and gifts to Katie Sherrard.
On October 25th, a team of educators from Neely-O’Brien came to the Tukwila Office Depot to go on a shopping spree to purchase school supplies from their wish list that will help them serve KSD students.
Jennifer Osgood, Neely-O’Brien Elementary School principal had this to say about the event: “Office Depot has been an amazing partner to us in the beginning of this school year and it has really made a difference for all our staff and students. Not having good supplies can easily become a barrier to learning in the classroom and that obstacle has been removed for our team this year. We have been able to fully focus on the academic and social/emotional needs of our students which has been more important than ever this year as many of us return from remote learning after over a year. We are extremely grateful for the boost this has given our students and for the continued partnership with Office Depot. We can’t say thank you enough!”
Kent School District is so thankful for Office Depot’s commitment to helping and serving our community and schools.
