Congratulations Alonso Renteria!

Alonso Kentridge High School Senior Alonso Renteria was named the Seattle Seahawks, CenturyLink, Inc., and KIRO Radio High School Athlete of the Week. Alonso will be recognized on the field at during the Seahawks vs. Ravens game on October 20.

Alonso was selected based on his dedication to academics, community involvement, leadership and athletic performance, they announced in a press release.

He has a 3.7 GPA while working with the College Success Foundation to prepare for college and be the first in his family to graduate high school and attend a four-year university.

Outside of the classroom, Alonso advocates for the Washington College Grant to district representatives in Olympia and was selected to attend the Latino/a Educational Achievement Project Conference where he spent two days learning how to address the education gap among the Latino community. Additionally, Alonso serves as a translator for his family and community, bringing cultures and languages together.

Alonso’s leadership goes beyond the classroom and Olympia. He is also a leader on the football field by constantly uplifting his teammates and helping them perfect their game.

Kentridge’s athletic department will also receive a $1,000 grant from the Seahawks along with media recognition, tickets and sideline passes to a Seahawks game, a customized football, and a customized 2019 Seahawks jersey.
