Neely-O'Brien Students Start Proud

Presenter and row of colorful backpacksNeely-O’Brien Elementary School students and teachers started the 2021-2022 school year with pride thanks to a partnership between Kent School District and Office Depot. The company donated more than 500 backpacks filled with brand new school supplies as part of their annual Start Proud program.

On the morning of the first day of school, students received school supplies like notebooks, composition books, crayons, pencils, highlighters and more to help them feel confident, prepared and proud as they embark on a new school year. With support from Boise Paper, families also received a $20 gift card to help with additional school supply needs.

Teacher Katie Sherrard was surprised with Office Depot’s All-Star Teacher award in recognition of her dedication to education and extraordinary contributions to the school. She received additional products from Office Depot, inlcuding a new laptop and office chair.

Local Office Depot and OfficeMax stores in the Seattle-area have been raising donations for the past three months to support the entire teaching staff at Neely-O’Brien Elementary School. This will enable the school to receive thousands of dollars’ worth of additional health and wellness products, school supplies and more. Customers who want to lend a helping hand can make a donation at the checkout counter of their local store through Saturday, September 25.

A huge thank you to Office Depot and our KSD community for helping support our students and make sure they have the school supplies they need to start the year off proud!
